The 22th Research Institute of CETC is specialized in research and application of radio wave Environment Observation Technology Institute, also the one of the big national radio wave environment observation and research institution.

The major research direction is the application of radio wave environment. The research scope involves from the ground (water), earth (SEA) surface and troposphere and ionosphere research into outer space, from long wave to millimeter wave band. The Institute provides basic data, communication mode, demonstration report and information services in a variety of the design of electronic system, and develop the equipment for a large combination of hardware and software in the information system as well.

It has undertaken more than 300 national major scientific research projects for the construction of national economy and has made remarkable achievements in the development of the oil well logging system, antenna series of electronic engineering and communication engineering as the representative of the product development
